Influencers drowned during yacht party after ‘refusing to wear life jackets because they would ruin their selfies and tans’, police say

Authorities revealed the fatal incident was caused by their overcrowded boat being overwhelmed by a wave. This dreadful occurrence highlights the perils of disregarding safety measures at sea.
The overcrowded state of the vessel proved fatal when it encountered a large wave while returning to the Brazilian coast.
Local police commissioner, Marcos Alexandre Alfino, disclosed that despite the imminent risks, the influencers chose not to wear life jackets, which were deemed obstructive to their activities, including tanning and taking selfies.

The event unfolded nearly a month ago, but the details only recently emerged through police investigations and statements from the survivors. The vessel, designed to carry a maximum of five, was burdened with six passengers when it capsized on September 29th.
The boat’s skipper, a survivor himself, recounted the harrowing moments as the boat succumbed to the wave’s force.

Efforts to rescue the passengers were immediate yet challenging. Beatriz’s body was the first to be recovered, found drifting at sea by Brazil’s Maritime Firefighters.
A week later, Aline’s body was discovered washed up on Itaquitanduva Beach. The skipper and other survivors provided critical testimony, shedding light on the chaotic moments that led to this disaster.
Authorities are meticulously examining the sequence of events to determine whether this was a preventable tragedy stemming from recklessness or negligence.
Commissioner Alfino emphasized the careful approach taken to conclude the investigation, as understanding the nuances of the incident is crucial for justice and prevention of future tragedies.

Heartbreakingly, Aline, a mother who could not swim, had posted what would be her last images on social media, enjoying the day unaware of the fate that awaited. Beatriz, remembered for her modeling since her school days, also met a tragic end.
Survivors of the incident, including Vanessa Audrey da Silva and Camila Alves de Carvalho, recounted their desperate fight for survival, with Camila injuring herself and swallowing water while they clung to rocks.
