How to easily clean your house?

Living in a clean house is one of the main keys to maintain a healthy mind. Unfortunately, it happens that we lake of time, making house cleaning real torture.

This why Houstherapie has brought to you some tips and tricks that will allow you to perfectly clean your interior with less time and effort!

So we have compiled below the best cleaning and housekeeping tips for a clean & tidy house.

One thing all these tips have in common? Simplicity!

Follow the guide and discover the tips below for a super clean, stress-free, and chemical-free home, let’s go!

Disinfect your sponges

A sponge can get very dirty and messy quite easily. Even worse, they can become a real nest for bacteria! Not ideal in the kitchen…

However, you don’t have to change your sponge every day.

Here’s a simple but super-effective way to disinfect your sponges. Simply leave your wet sponge in the microwave for 1 minute.

Clean your toilets

Coca-Cola, the ultimate solution!

Use the equivalent of a can and pour it directly into the toilet to clean it. the corrosive effect of the Coke and the phosphoric acid of the drink will get rid of the dirt in the toilet.

Just let it soak in for about 1 hour to make this trick really work.

We recommend that you remove the water in the toilet with your brush so that the Coke is less diluted. It’s much more effective!

A solution that is not harmful, and cheap to replace household products that are often too expensive.

Clean your blender

The smoothies are trendy! So it’s not surprising to find more and more blender-equipped kitchens.

The only really annoying thing is to clean the blender… It’s even sometimes real pain, we must admit it! This tip is quite stupid, and you have almost no need to do anything to get a blender like brand new!

All you need to do is to pour some hot water with a little dishwashing liquid and make your blender run! A quick rinse with clean water and you’re done. Do not put burning water when closing your blender tightly, this may cause a sudden rise of water because of the steam.

Cleaning your dishwasher

We hardly ever think about it, but it is important to clean the dishwasher because it doesn’t clean itself at the same time the dishes are being washed!

To prevent unpleasant odors from the dishwasher, we recommend cleaning it regularly.

This is a simple yet really easy tip, you have almost nothing to do to get the best result.

Run your empty dishwasher with only a glass of white vinegar. This tip will keep your dishwasher clean, and defatted.

Brighten up your sink

When it comes to the sink, our team is really obsessed with it. It must shine 7 days a week!

This tip allows you to make your sink shine while using natural products such as lemons and salt. Simply rub the sink with lemon and a little bit of salt to obtain a surprising result.

Air purification

Despite popular belief, the air inside the house is more polluted than the air outside!

Of course, the first step to clean air at home is to air the house as much as possible, even in winter.

But to truly purify and clean indoor air, consider the following trick, which is simple and very effective.

To cleanse the air in your apartment or house, we recommend tea tree essential oil that you mix in a little boiling water to purify it.

Remove animal fur from your carpet

Pets and carpet? It’s a duo that doesn’t excuse itself!

To remove animal hair easily from the carpet, you don’t have to bother with the vacuum cleaner, a simple squeegee is all you need!

Just use the glass squeegee on the carpet to finally get rid of the cat or dog hair on your carpet.

Sanitize your cutting board

The cutting board may quickly become a kitchen tool full of bacteria!

For cleaning and disinfecting your cutting board, use half a lemon, salt and that’s it. You still have to scrub, of course.

An eco-friendly and economical solution that consists of rubbing the cutting board with your half lemon.

Cleaning your TV screen

To eliminate the dust and stains on your TV screen, opt for a simple coffee filter!

Just pass the coffee filter gently over the screen for a stunning and super-efficient result.

Something we love about Christmas is the power it has to turn the world into a warmer, more loving place. Besides gifts, big meals, and family reunions, the decoration is certainly one of the most important things to make Christmas so memorable. However, it is not all about the traditional fir trees, nativity scenes, mistletoe, and tinsel…

Christmas decorations can also be minimalist and simple and make the same effect as the most pompous. So, having a reduced space is no longer an excuse to not let the magic of these days enter your home. Especially after you’ve been inspired by these ideas we’ve put together for you below.

Christmas tree wall

Make the most of your naked walls to upgrade your old Christmas tree and transform it into an original arrangement made of different Christmas images, Christmas carol sheets, and family or snowy pine photos. You can give it a shiny touch by surrounding it with LED lights as a garland.

Winter flower set

Even if the space is very small, no place does not take some plants or a beautiful flower center. We are familiar with poinsettias, hollies, and mistletoe, but other winter flowers such as Christmas roses, Christmas cactus, Nandina, and the Knight’s Star are also beautiful for this season. Mixing red and white tones of these blossoms with green leaves in a nice jar give a festive touch to any room.

Christmas Trees in a Vase

In case you don’t have enough space to put up a Christmas tree with all the cards of the word at home, you can always make one at the table. You only need a vase, the branches of a fir tree and some decorations. If you do not wish to pull the traditional balls, then you can take out your most unique style and hang slices of dried lemon, paper decorations, or any other type of bead you wish.

Christmas candleholders

Inside the Christmas decoration, the lights are an essential element. The candles are a traditional alternative to electric lights, which also create an even warmer atmosphere. Either inside candleholders in the shape of little houses that give the sensation of a small snowy town, or decorating the glass jars ourselves with pine leaves.

Non-religious Nativity Scene

The nativity scenes are beautiful but, if you are not especially religious, you might be hesitant to have one at home. However, there are many ways to twist the concept of a traditional nativity scene if we combine it with a table centerpiece. To create your personalized nativity scene, you only need to combine decorative elements such as mini Christmas trees, houses, reindeer, and some candles. Important not to forget the snow, that can be created with cotton.

DIY Stars

To make the most of a small space, it is important to hang decorative elements on the walls. The stars, the ultimate symbol of Christmas, are perfect for this. Moreover, you can make them yourself with wooden beads and add a very Scandinavian touch to your home.

Minimalistic Advent Wreaths

Advent wreaths are a classic in Christmas decorations and can be handmade. They are perfect, not only to hang on the front door but also to put inside our houses. Especially the minimalist version is perfect for hanging on the wall of any room in the house.

We hope that you’ve found what you’re looking for Housetherapie Team is doing his best to provide you with the newest decoration hacks and ideas.

Do you too have a small kitchen, or do you at least have the feeling that you always lack space in this area?

This has been my case since I moved in. And knowing that I can’t push the walls or break them, I chose to set out all the most useful and handy tricks to live better with a small kitchen.

Today, Housetherapie Team shares with you this list. However, we also need your help to complete it. So don’t hesitate to share your tips, tricks, ideas, and pieces of advice for optimizing space in a small kitchen.

Vertical thinking

You will use areas that are often left unused to create overhead storage, and you will also create a feeling of height in your ceilings, thus visually enlarging the space.

Use the space from floor to ceiling

In this functional little kitchen, space is used from floor to ceiling to create an easy-going and fully functional room with lots of space for storage.

Smart feature, the little open shelve on the left side of the tall cabinets, giving easy access to the dishes that are most frequently used.

Open shelves

In this small kitchen, the storing space is optimized even up to the ceiling, but with open shelves.

Be daring to create original and custom-made designs.

This tiny kitchen is very well-conceived; space is optimized up to the ceiling thanks to these tall cabinets which are custom made to fit the room configuration.

Open the spaces

One of the best ways to bring a feeling of spaciousness to a small kitchen.

Use a glass wall in a small, half-open, half-closed kitchen

Living in an open space is very enjoyable, and that is certainly the case for small kitchens. But perhaps you’d like to find an idea to separate the kitchen and living area without dividing them up? Consider a half-open, half-closed kitchen with a glass wall.

Create a bar area that also serves as a separation between the kitchen and the living room.

A Bar Corner, which can also be transformed into a central area, and used as an extra work surface. An easy and trendy way to create an aesthetic, and useful separation between the living area and the kitchenette.

Use it as storage.

Because a small kitchen always lacks practical storage space, consider providing extra open shelves for recipe books or even dishes. You can even put a few small decorative objects in it!

Optimize closets as much as possible

You certainly have cupboards even if you have a tiny kitchen. Have you ever thought about maximizing these storage spaces?

With the right accessories, it’s very easy to get started, and space-saving is obvious!

Use the interior of your cupboard doors to store spices.

A seasoning shelf that fixes inside the closet, on its door. Please be careful to allow adequate space to avoid disturbing the closure.

Set up an extendable and adjustable shelf under the sink.

Do you lack space in your small kitchen? Have you tried to optimize the space under the sink? Simply install an adjustable, modular, and telescopic shelf to give you a convenient and space-saving storage area.

Hang your household products on a telescopic bar.

Cleaning products take up space. Under-sink space offers a suitable area to store them, as long as it is well organized. Start by placing a telescopic bar and putting the various accessories together in plastic baskets. Put the brushes in one box, the sponges in another…

The smallest of balconies deserves your full attention, but no need to complicate things. Start step-by-step, we will help you to organize your balcony and decorate it. Let’s start!

Hanging an open suspended shelf

Space-saving, open shelves can also be placed on a small balcony. For decoration, hang a poster or a picture! This original and cheap idea will bring a unique touch to your balcony.

Hang a hammock

It is a space-saving and flexible design trick. When you have guests, simply remove it, pack it up, and put it away. You can then take full advantage of the floor pillows if you don’t have the space to install garden furniture.

Floor Covering

Covering the floor creates a cozy and warm space. For this, layer and stack carpets, cushions, and floor mats, and use snap-on tiles (wood, grass …) for a cozy look.

Choose foldable furniture to save space, hang colorful garlands on the railing to give a special touch.

Lay a pad or mattress on the floor

A proof that even the smallest of balconies can be transformed into a comfy cozy space! Just put a mattress on it and add a few cushions as a backrest.

Turn your small balcony into an outdoor bar with the Balkonbar shelves

Tables to hang directly on your railing, to create a bar corner on a small balcony.

Enjoy barbecue and kebabs

Set up a mini barbeque to fix to your railing. Alternatively, you can use this lightweight & nomadic table barbecue. However, please be careful about security, building regulations, and other restrictions.

Optimize space on your small balcony with smart furniture

The folding chairs slip under the planter while the table folds down easily. I would definitely buy one for my balcony!

Place a ladder against the wall

Put a ladder against the wall, to hang pots, garlands of light, decoration…

Choose a clear and simple decoration

The Nordic style is particularly well suited to decorate and organize a small balcony.

Play with lights

Add a warm and cozy touch to your balcony, even on a small budget. To do so, start with lamps or garlands, and complete with candles.

Use the full width for a braided rope bed

The entire width of this balcony was used to create a comfortable corner with a braided rope bed.

Hang a metal wall grid

The metallic wall grid can be suspended or fixed to the wall or to the privacy screen, in order to place your favorite magazines and to hang flower pots.

For flexible seating that is easy to move, choose recycling material, and add a wooden case that can quickly be transformed into a small table. For the cozy aspect, simply add a sturdy floor cushion or an outdoor chair pad.

Balcony railing hanging table

A very easy way to organize a small balcony, the practical grips of this small table also make it easy for you to move it around and use it as a tabletop to carry meals from the kitchen to the outside.

Recycling wooden boxes

Wooden boxes and pallets are very practical for small balconies. For the cozy effect, you can layer some colorful carpets on top of each other…

How can you use wooden boxes?

Wooden boxes can also be transformed into a flowerpot or a small stool, very useful to decorate a small balcony! They can be easily moved, stacked…

When you have a wooden case as a coffee table on your small balcony, simply add a cushion to turn it into an extra stool as soon as you receive guests.

Wooden boxes are ideal for making your own customized and flexible shelving when arranging a small balcony.

How can you use pallets?

By stacking pallets and adding cushions or pallet mattresses, you can easily make a space-saving set of garden furniture, a trick that works for small gardens too.

Great ideas always start in a comfortable workspace, and that’s the reason why it’s important to find the perfect spot in your bedroom to create the perfect workspace. Living in a small apartment or a dorm room is always a challenge to make the most of all the space you have, or to stay organized anyway, and working on the bed or the living room is not always a good idea.

We have chosen three solutions for you to create a minimalist and trendy workplace design, and to choose the perfect emplacement depending on your room’s size and shape.

These options were chosen carefully by our designer to give you the latest and perfect solutions to your room organization.

1st Option – Full walled work area

Do you have a free blank wall? If yes then you’re lucky! There is plenty of designs and ideas for this kind of workspace. We will help you find the perfect one for your room depending on the wall’s size, if you’re planning to have full use of it, a floating desk is recommended. It will give you all the space you need to do your work, and you can even add an extra place for your computer activities. The second tip is to use the wall to hang your floating shelves, and to stick your weekly or monthly planner.

To add a cozy effect to your space, don’t forget to put some plants on the side, it’s very refreshing and relaxing.

Here are some ideas:

2nd Option – Corner workspace

Don’t worry, if your bedroom doesn’t afford a large wall, you still can create a corner workspace. The good news is that this kind of desk emplacement is very trendy and popular, which means that this kind of desks is available on IKEA.

If the available space is small, you can add floating shelves on your wall and especially if the desk doesn’t contain any drawers to store your things.

And don’t forget to stay as simple as possible and choose calm colors to create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the room.

Here are some ideas:

3rd Option – Workspace by the window

There is always something beautiful about hearing births chirping and dogs barking, well my dear friend if you are lucky to have a large window in your bedroom, we highly recommend you to place your desk right in front of it.

The natural light crossing the window while you’re working or studying will make you more motivated and active.

Make sure that the window’s size fits perfectly with the desk, in case you want to have extra space to set storage to shelving on the side.

Here are some ideas:
